S for Synopsis/ Supervisor

Remember the time I told my then potential supervisor to read Phd Comics? Well, I hope he hasn't gotten around reading it because well, he is my supervisor/guide now.A pretty decent one at that. He does not 'pressurise' (and well, I surely don't do weed ll in such 'under pressure' situations so that's actually a very good thing) although he does expect me to stick to deadlines. And well the latest is I have to submit my synopsis in a couple of days and well, I'm lost. Maybe it has been too much gap, maybe I've over-read whatever I've written so far but I am kind of lost. So a couple of days ago, I submitted my synopsis to my guide and well yesterday he sent it back fully formatted (eh, he didn't quite read the entire document properly though - I noticed one or two incomplete sentences while reading it just now). But full formatted with title and all. I feel bad and good. Either ways, wish me luck I have to meet him and present the firs...

Q for Q

Hangaroo. Hang man. Taboo. Dumb Charades. Scrabble. What do these have in common you ask (alright you don't, but I cannot thing of any other way of starting this post alright, so let it go let it go let it go ...Er..wrong time to start thought bulb-ing a song Reef, get back to the post) Apart from me being fabulous at them (Oh well okay, not all of them) they are all forms of word games. But nothing can beat the oldest of the games i.e. something we played from when we were really little. NAME- PLACE -ANIMAL- THING. And there are certain 'Red Letters' of the alphabet while playing this game. Mainly Q,X. While since names can actually be made up that leaves as with the rest of the categories. For places the most written answer is 'Queensland'. Its the Animal and thing that leaves a lot of people including me stranded. Since even BIRDS are counted as ANIMALS for this game I usually write Quail. And ONLY because I liked reading classics and later Harry Pot...

N for No

Yes, N for No As a kid, apparently 'No' was the first English word I used and ONLY English word I used for the longest time. Although a lot of my qualities, both good and bad have been quite consistent over all these years, I do not have the habit of answering EVERYTHING in this singular, monosyllabic word of negation. Yes,I do use it but I often find it difficult to say this to anyone I consider friend/family. (This is not to be consfused with my stubbornness or rigidity in certain [read several] aspects of life) Of late, however I come across three people of pretty different backgrounds who most often reply to most questions with a simple 'N' 'O'- NO. First, A certian 'seven seas across' hamster loving almost two year old who loves answering by saying a very assertive 'No No'. This ranges from negating food preferences to non-star spangled clothes. Second, A gigantic teddy bear who hails from one of our neighbouring countries and has d...

K for Kakching

As most people who know me know, I love travelling. It is a fantastic experience to go to new places or even revisit places and meet new or even old friends. A couple of years ago I travelled to Manipur along with Miti to visit our common friend Sanjee and an added bonus was to meet Roma. After spending close to twenty four hours on four chairs in the extremely crowded and pretty dirty Kolkata airport; After eating at almost all the stalls and knowing every accessible corner there, we left the place (Miti did a detour and reached a couple of days after me). The flight to Imphal was one of those small toyish aeroplanes (I think they are called ATRs). And it was pretty decent. Once I reached there, the minute I was walking (yes, just like Hubli and other small cute airports you get to walk directly from the flight to the baggage claim) I could see Sanjee outside the airport. I'll never forget the experience, it felt awesome, just out of an old black and white Telugu movie, where t...

Summer is here

I've been in this city for over seven months now (i subtracted the number of days I went home, which all put together is two months spread out over a period of time). And I have seen almost all its seasons. I had already experienced summer here in the past (the peak at that) but at that time I knew I was going back home right around the corner and did not have to bear the actual brunt of it. But now, I can feel summer seeping in. And its begun nicely enough with the gentle cool breeze in the night. :)

G for Generousity

Has someone ever been generous to you? I have had a lot of people around me who have been so very generous over the years. And a lot of them for no 'real' reason. Some people wonder as to why I tend to go out of my way for certain people. It is because of gratitude.I get very attached to people who have been nice to me in even the remotest of ways and this tends to over power any negative deeds later on. This attitude has been and probably will always be my greatest foe. But when I have gratitude, it is completely heartfelt. Thank you.

F for Fidel Castro (is not dead)

So growing up I used to hear about Fidel Castro. I was into 'general knowledge' to a very good extent. So when I read of someone who was 'famous' for a long period of time, that person almost certainly was dead by the time we read about them. For example someone like Sarojini Naidu, Rob T, Bhagat Singh, Abraham Lincoln, Washington(s), Roosevelt(s) you get the picture. So when a certain teacher claimed to be on the same boat (cruise ship) as Castro, I assumed that this teacher was: a) A young achiever  b) A good story teller  c)Much older than he looked d)Was talking about somebody else called Castro e)All of the above f)Some of the above g)None of the above And much to my surprise, the answer was g. None of the above. I felt not just ignorant but also highly amused that I assumed Fidel Castro was in fact long gone from the face of our planet. Thanks to this incident I am very careful about 'dead or alive' facts about people and try to shut up even i...

E for Empathy Link

As people who have been in contact me since Jan 2014 would know, I am back to being on a reading spree. The list of books include Percy Jackson (from the second book to the last one), In that a satyr and Percy share an empathy link. By this, they not only connection with each other but also feels what the other person is feeling at that point.Somehow this  reminds/reminded me about something called 'umbilical cord connection' in this terrific drama called 'Anveshitha' on a certain Telugu channel when we were kids. In this the connection (if my memory serves me correctly) is between the devil possessed mother and her child who has her powers along with the goodness of mankind. (Yes, the makers are paying me advertise it as the next super 'blast from the past'----I wish). The point being, do you every feel that way with anyone? What makes writers write such a connection? Is it because of experience or is it because you want to have such a connection with s...

D for Deadbeat

So the cold/fever has drained me out. I have not touched an academic book for quite a few days now. And everyone decides to call me when I cannot really talk. My actual post was supposed to be D for (A PLACE THAT I ONCE TRAVELLED aka Davanagere) and food there. (Banne Dosa, yummy) but alas that cannot be the case today, so tata

C for a Cold

I missed my classes today because not only did I manage to catch a cold but also a fever. But I did sleep for most part of the day and I might bunk. Okay....my posts are becoming very silly and pointless. Worse than ever. I'll try to do a better job tomorrow.

B for Boredom,Blabber-mouth & Boohoo

I rarely get bored. I do however, get bored of people. And when I do...I tend to talk, non stop. I did the latter today without really being bored. And Boohoo too I do, but not as much as my loverly room-mate who is nothing short of a dark vowel. But I prefer her to unknown devil. On a completely parallel note, I wonder how it is going to be when soon I'll be the only single person among my friends, this year a lot of the 'remaining' single are getting married. In particular I would like to meet tall V's girl and Ant's guy.

A for Apple , the A to Z Challenge and April

Okay this I have taken up from Sayesha's blog. You take the letters of the alphabet and then write a post titled with the letter...one letter a day till the 26th of April. Since I did not take up the Feb challenge, I was thinking I should take this up. April is a weird month. Its a month in which I experienced immense loss, so much disappointment. A month when I saw DDLJ for the first time ever. A month which showed that holidays were near (while we were growing up). April, the month I met Kerala gang for the first time. Last April I made a decision which led me to where I am right now. And right now...it is the month of submissions. So April, the A to my A to Zed.
