Ear full

Can someone find me ALL the earrings Rekha wears in Silsila? Sigh, materialistic wants. I don't even need those earrings, I probably have at least 300 pairs, no I am not joking. Although I probably spent maybe a maximum of 500 rupees on all the ones I ever bought for myself. Rest were gifts from people who know just how much I love earrings. I do love bangles as much as I love earrings but just cannot wear them as often so I don't 'crave' for them like I do earrings. When I first came to this country, I would get stares for wearing big earrings but of course, that did not stop me, I wore and wear them according to my mood. The nice thing, however, is that a lot of people have started wearing relative big earrings around these parts. Earrings :)
Fragments One smaller than the other both equally broken Scars One from a deep cut another from a bruise both equally hidden Fears Of touch, of what one is and may become, fear if anyone found out, behind a smile and behind a frown Hearts, that beat with no emotion, with too much of it but equally hurting Life, that brought took them to paths so different but led to the same destination Love, one so tearful, one so painful but equal within Two of them, so different so same but one they became.

Words of wisdom

A little over eighteen years ago, a couple of schoolmates and I who were in the same junior college had to go to school to collect our certificates. We were very excited to go back. Firstly, because we all missed school and secondly, we did not particularly like our junior college and since it was official work, we had gotten permission to go to college late that day. Apart from collecting our certificates, we roamed around a bit and decided that if the Principal was available, we would drop in to say hi to her. I went to the same school right from my kindergarten to my tenth class. And all through we had nuns as principals, in their older attire adapted from the Italian founders of the school. (Okay this part has no relevance to this particular story but I write as I visualise the scene so excuse me for that deviation). Thankfully for us, Sr. Monica (our Principal at that time) was around and welcomed us to her office. I was there with one friend from school and another girl whom I ...

Vivid visuals

Reminiscing about East Marredpally reminded me of something ghastly I saw as a kid. I don't know why I never spoke out about such things back then, but it really shaped things like becoming a proper vegetarian. Like a lot of 'great' practices, even Marredpally we had garbage or leaves being burnt in a heap. While coming back from Ammamma's house to FM (barely two lanes away) I saw a dog being burnt in the heap, my heart sank and I really did not know if the dog was being burnt alive when it was asleep or was already dead. But it will always be one of the saddest things I have seen in life. Close next is probably seeing someone fall to their death.

And this November again

First came a November, that I barely remember at all. All I remember is the cold room with really thin walls. In the changing constants of our life, among the leaves that keep turning, while the sun dips and rises, emotions run high, run low. Such emotions came one November, showed me love, showed me care. And made me sure of our friendship, moving me from despair. Then came another November, where I knew you were there. But caring for someone else dearly, and leaving me to tear. But those tears mended quickly. Just the like the times that rolled by. And this autumn brought yet again, a November that is cold But I just feel older, wiser And grateful for knowing you at all. While we always shall remain where we are, you still give me hope. That while people are cold and distant, they are there when you call. You will not be my sunshine but you will be my friend. All through life's trends.

To you I am like the sun that sets during sunset...

Being from a country where most movies have music and music is such an integral part of life, I do not care much for western 'musicals'. When I say musicals, I refer only to western musical movies. I do enjoy musical plays. And I am partial to certain western musicals mainly because of the nostalgia value attached to them. Such feelings of indifference often extend to movies even from the East Asia. That said, I do like a lot of OSTs from both the West and East. And one such OST I adore, even more after I have come to understand the lyrics is this particular song from a movie I was introduced to by a friend. (Incidentally, it is a movie from which a lot of scenes have been ripped of and used in Indian and probably even Western movies). It is from a movie called 'Classic'. While my soft spot for the movie has reasons beyond reason, this particular song remains with me even after all these years.  It does not make stop laughing at all the spoofs on it. And such spo...
해 질 녘 Some words are just so beautiful. The word above means Sunset. But even more precisely it translates to 'That moment when the sun sets'.
