Waiting and hurrying

I dislike waiting for people. Immensely. I was probably not that bad initially but I have come to realise that it is easily one of my least favourite things. And inevitably people who make me wait lose points on the respect and reliability scale. Sadly most of my close friends have always, always made me wait. Although I do half one or two friends like that even here, it holds true especially in my home city. Unless something really unfortunate and out of control happens, I try my best to be on time (talking about my current self). And my favourite people here have that one thing in common, they are on time. And in fact sometimes even early. To the point that it is a joke among some of us because we keep reaching places way ahead of time. Now to the hurrying part, I used to 'hurry' to meet people (getting ready, literally running out of the house etc). But only once, I hurried to travel thirty kilometres to surprise a friend and meet him for five minutes or so (it was a s...

A mind's game

At a long end of a trailing thought When you seem to have all forgot Come rushing back like a series of flashes Not just memories but conversations and actions Just when you seem to have cleared those clouds Just when you seem to have figured it all out Just when you were about to move forward A past comes forth like a wave washing over Just like that wave from the deep blue sea Of the past, comes the present refreshing yet salty It brings with it shells hollow and strong And the sound of the ocean singing a midnight song When such waves fill your spirit with thoughts that hold you still, A deep breathe reminds you: Oceans, deep seas and thoughts that trail are nothing but mirages in your own mind's game

New appreciation for old things

I have been 'listening' to an old Telugu show while reading etc. And there is a character who sprouts words such as 'bourgeois', 'capitalist' etc. This was a very popular serial in its time. I started listening to it rather unintentionally, (I was listening to the title track initially and YouTube auto-played the first episode.) I thought I remembered the story pretty well but turns out that I remember only the story outline and not the details. I remember being fascinated by certain characters in the show. And the reason people at home watched it was because it was book both Ammamma and Amma read the book version of it. If you grew up in the nineties, and in a similar household you'd have a soft corner for all shows Doordarshan and that applies for this serial too. I am not sure I'll listen to the show up to the last episode but so far its been fun. (I'll probably try to stick to it to the original ending as per the book, the show went way beyond ...

Soom Soom Soom

When you are already building stress for close to two weeks and want someone to tell you it'll be okay. And instead get told 'you are in a mess and you need to do something about it'. (which in fact you are thinking deep down yourself, but those are not words you need to hear right now). When you realise you help people calm down and really don't have anyone accessible who can help you calm down. When you blog because you don't want to break down and start crying right at the beginning of the semester. I want flowers. I want spring. I want warm weather. Okay, i'm being dramatic. I just need to sort out my thoughts (academic mainly) and find direction. I cannot possibly be as dumb as some people are making me feel.
