The year that was post

J I went to Bombay. Good old Bombay. A school friend visited me there along with her two year old notorious son. I even managed to make videos of him fussing (which I intend to embarrass him with when he grows older).  After this, I managed to visit even Delhi. Aah Delhi. It was good to catch up with department folk, hostel friends, my local guardian (such a joke :D) and two college-mates. Also managed to go to Lucknow (for a day) before I got back to good ol' Hyd. I managed to buy some new kurtis (If I only had clothes that I bought for myself I would have probably just about a suitcase full of them so this was a big deal).I had a quiet, contemplative birthday. F I lost my voice literally. I fell terribly sick and the infection made me lose my voice and caused a lot of frustration. For a talkative person who fights with her mom all the time, it was a terrible thing to happen.  And I went back. Went dancing at a friend's leap year party (which I do not do unless I am...

Come September

When September knocks on my doors It brings with it here where I stay Autumn with falling, turning leaves Wind and chill, sunlight Along with the seasonal season It has brought with One more time, Time to say bye. Thank you for the music. I will be back after a while. But till then. Once more.

Such a headache

I don't get headaches very often and when I do get them, there is a definite reason behind them. I either have a cold, or have been sleep deprived or very hungry. But occasionally I get these headaches which have no explanations but are so consuming. They take every bit of me and leave me without the ability to do anything. Today was such a day. Our ever faithful amrutanjan did help so much but I feel exhausted. Head still hurts a little. But what is bothersome is that I have a hectic day ahead tomorrow. I have a presentation too. Thankfully I finished reading for the presentation but haven't gotten around to do the ppt yet. Just one of those days.Tomorrow will be better.

Repackaged notes

Growing up in the nineties in India, we were subject all kinds of terrific (good and bad) pop culture. Along with the whatshisname rap arts who sang about asking girls to sit in their cars in terrible rhythm we also had the privilege to see collaborations across borders that gave music a sense of universality. One of such songs was sung by a Pakistani artist, the visuals, the music and lyrics were all spoken about quite a bit back when it was released in the late nineties. And being an avid follower of a certain music based show I was pleasantly surprised by this rendition of the same song .  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aroZE9dByIg

Respect

I cannot even begin to imagine the amount of effort is require to attempt something so steadfast for sixteen years. Irom Sharmila. If not anything, it brought a little attention to the AFSPAness in our beloved NErn states. I hope things all become better. The nice people there deserve better.

Another realisation

I realised that I managed three more places in a 'to go' list I made ages ago. In fact I could strike of some places two and four years respecitively but never did. Just realised that today. I also realised that someone I know had/has a similar list and just managed to clear a place on my list. Probably has gone to several more but nice to know that people travel. Whatever be the reason. If someone paid me and told me 'Ja Simran'...i would only and only travel. I knew that long ago, but since I need to limit myself until i save enough money. I will dream just enough to fulfil them. But then again, I have managed to dream bigger stuff and achieve them, late but still. That said, there is a dream I stopped dreaming for myself which keeps fluctuating every now and then, but  I manage to be stable. For sometimes, dreams are better off in our sleep and not hitting the light of the day.
