The year that was post

Jan: Home. Su and Mr.Su, Al, D and Mr.D (and crying). Return of the midnight B'day. Being bossed around by dear Tai. Feb: Hospitals, misreading tickets (And more crying) March: Exam prep all the way. (Hence no memory of anything else) April: Being called a horrible human being by a now ex-friend. And crying. Baby M turning one! May: April showers bringing May flowers. Almost disowning a friend (who later happily proved me wrong, lets see how long that will stick) June:G,N,Al,Dh making the day better. July: Nothing stood out here. Ummm met Ir I think? (need to see personal diary) Aug: Fils.Meeting FY with AJSO there.AJSO wonderful family. Meeting JVish. Visitor from home. Al graduating and leaving for home. Parcels sent. Sep: Seeing baby D for the first time. Fighting with Shalu. Snapping at Tai. Mathur. Knowing but realising once again that some 'old friendships' last and some don't. Some carry on to the future and some aren't even worth staying in the past...

Dear Boy!

Happy Birthday dear one. Hope you have an amazing year, with it being your last 'teenage' year. How time flies. I hope I get to see you sometime and hope you have that kindness in your eyes you had as a child. As the child who start crying because I did. As the child who did his homework because I did mine. As a child who promptly stood at the wall where we measured his height, every few months he visited. I believe in fate. I believe in destiny. We were destined to meet. But fate had it that we never stayed close. Just like most other familial bonds in my life. So while it does pull a few heartstrings, it does not leave me bitter. You can never do. You will be the first born of the house (even though a boy-child). You will be that kid I played with after coming home from school. The kid who brought only smiles for the longest time. I hope you do not remember any bitter memories of your childhood and grow up to be a wonderful human being. Even if I just watch from afar. Tha...

ख़त

I used to listen to ghazals much more while at home. Not intentionally, but I don't listen to them as often anymore. They make me sad for several reasons even though they are beautiful. This particular one I like a lot because it is about letters. Easily my favourite form of communication after probably (or at times maybe even more than) talking face to face. I miss some old Ghazal voices.
